Tour overview
Day 1:
Arrive at Entebbe airport where you will be met and greeted by one of our team. You will then be transferred to Kampala for overnight. Dinner and overnight Skyz Hotel
Day 2:
Today after a leisurely breakfast, you will go on a Kampala City Tour. The city sightseeing tour circuit passes through some of the most beautiful and best spots of Kampala which include hotels, the Uganda Parliament, the National Theatre, Nakasero Market, New Conference Exhibition and Performance Complex, Kabaka’s Royal Palace (Lubiri), Kabaka’s Lake, Rubaga Cathedral, Buganda Parliament (Lukiiko), Namirembe Cathedral, Old Kampala Mosque (Gadaffi Mosque), Kasubi Royal Tombs, Makerere University and the Uganda Museum. You will have a light snack on the bus.
Transfer to hotel for lunch. In the evening, you will explore Kampala City by night. Enjoy the popular night spots, try out the local cuisine, enjoy Stand-up comedy, poetry and traditional performances.
Day 3
Today you will go on a tour to Entanda, community-based tourism organisation based in Mityana, about and an hour and half from Kampala Capital City. They promote traditional practices in the area of music, talks (senga and kojja), games, hunting, barkcloth making, medicine, food preparation and dining, taboos and totems as well as religion among others. They also use an innovative model for reducing wildlife destruction. They undertake controlled hunting expeditions with the visitors to save wildlife. As a result of this approach, many hunters have laid down their tools.
Entanda was initiated in 2013 to protect and revitalise the waning Buganda cultural practices and natural environment through tourism. Buganda Kingdom is one of the largest and most influential pre-colonial kingdoms in East Africa, occupying a total area of 61,403 square kilometres. The Kingdom has a rich history and a strong culture dating back to AD400 during the reign of Kabaka Tonda. For more than two millennia, there has been birth and evolution of a number of cultural practices, values and norms in Buganda. These include music, dance, drama, passage of rites, language, architecture, dressing, technology, economic activity, religion, politics and governance, warfare, cuisine, ceremonies and gender roles. A majority of this culture was linked to man’s environment which in effect integrated culture with natural resource management.

Day 4-6
Today you will be transferred to the Western part of Uganda. Nshenyi cultural center is a home of cultural entanglement. It is an exhibition of unity between a unique cultures with modernization, helping to preserve the rich culture and way of life amidst the changing society. The centre is situated on the river banks in the middle of inspirational hills in Nshenyi village. The center makes it easy to see the roots of a rich Ankole culture in south-western Uganda whose existence has been long dominated by the long horned cow. You will be welcomed by warm people in the Kinyankole way of hugging.
Explore a cultural park at the centre with two model traditional home steads that showcase cultural arts, tools and activities including milking a long horned Ankole cow.
The beautiful sights and sounds of the river falls where one will see varied species of birds. It’s a fisher’s paradise. If you love fishing, you will certainly catch more and rare fish than you ever imagined. You may luckily see some hippos, crocs and buffalos from the near Ibanda game reserve in Tanzania. Many primates such as baboons are easy to see any time of the day.

Day 7
You will be transferred to the Katwe Tourist Centre in Queen Elizabeth Park. Katwe Tourism Information Center is a community operated enterprise at Lake Katwe in Kasese district. The center is a one stop point where visitors can get information about Lake Katwe and the surrounding community.
During the visit to KATIC, the local guide will take you to an interesting tour of the Lake where you will understand what is referred to as Plato “the substance dear to the gods”. Lake Katwe is the only salty Lake in Uganda and its level of saltiness makes it unable to support any wildlife. Since the 16th Century the Lake has ensured the survival of the Katwe communities, who spend their days under the equatorial sun, harvesting salt from its milky waters.
Unique networks of paths and huts have been built across the lake to support hundreds of workers. Selling the rock and table salt to traders from across Uganda and as far as Congo and Rwanda is the main source of income for the community.
The Katwe Salt Lake tour gives visitors unique insight into the fascinating yet tough process of salt mining, as well as providing an alternative income for Katwe. During the tour of the lake you will see community members at work, cross the mud walkways and enter one of the traditional grass huts, used to shelter and store tools. You will also pass the nearby bird sanctuary lake, home to thousands of birds, including migrating flamingoes from October to May.
If you wonder what it is like to live in this village next to the salt lake, the community tour gives visitors the chance to meet the locals, and get involved in their daily lives. You will be welcomed to a traditional homestead, to see what the villagers come home to after a hard day harvesting salt on the lake. Cooking demonstrations will introduce you to the food of this region and the traditional methods used to cook and prepare the meals. On arrangement, visitors can also enjoy a trip to the local school.
Day 8
Early in the morning after an early breakfast, you will be driven to the Kyambura Gorge. The steep Kyambura Gorge formed by the turbulent waters of the roaring Kyambura River, provides a lush riverine tropical forest right in the middle of the savannah dominated park. This forest is home to the chimps that have been habituated to human presence. You will be accompanied by a professional ranger-guide who will tell you more about chimps and the forest as he leads you through the giant trees and undergrowth vines. You’ll hear them before you see them: from somewhere deep in the forest, an excited hooting, just one voice at first, then several, rising in volume and tempo and pitch to a frenzied unified crescendo, before stopping abruptly or fading away. Chimps are amazing animals who share many similarities with us (98.7% DNA). They hug and kiss each other, live in family groups, enjoy the company of others and they are able to think through problems and use tools. Tracking our closest cousins in their natural habitant is quite a rewarding, exciting and educational experience. The area is also home to the black and white colobus, red tailed monkeys, olive baboons and other large mammals like elephants, hippos, and antelopes, as well as plenty of forest birds.
In the afternoon, you will have a leisurely boat cruise down the Kazinga channel where you will see more of the wild animals as they come down to water and cool off. Enjoy the unique 2 hour boat cruise on the Channel into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colourful and awesome with well over 550 resident species.
Expect to see elephants, hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, antelopes etc and lots of beautiful water birds. Return back to the lodge and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 9
After a lesurely breakfast, enjoy the drive back to Kampala. Enjoy stops at the Equator and Lunch will be enroute in Masaka town. You will then have a brief stopover at the equator, which is marked with large stone circles. Here you will have a chance to take some pictures, while standing in the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere at the same time, and get to learn more about the mysteries of this great imaginary line. There’s an art gallery nearby with beautiful crafts and art pieces where you can buy some gifts and souvenirs. 100% proceeds got from buying the crafts go to an organization which looks after children living with HIV. Continue the journey to Kampala.
Day 10-11
Today you will be transferred to the Islands. Brovad Sands Lodge -Tucked away in the charming island of Bugala in Ssese Islands on lake Victoria is the tropical hideaway of Uganda, a blissful holiday beach resort that is inviting, cozy, relaxing with direct Water access. A beautiful property embraced by a private natural white sand beach and shaded by soaring natural vegetation, trees, Brovad Sands Lodge is a fascinating treasure immersed in history and tradition. Enjoy a village nature walk and other activities around the lodge.
Day 12
Transfer back to Entebbe for your departure flight.
